When I had Reddish (Pink) Eye, I consulted and this is what was said –

In the case of Reddish Eye(s) it is usually non-specific term and may occur due to a series of disturbances or disruptions. It may occur in one or both eyes. Red eye could be due to an illness, injury, fatigue, eye infections, or other condition such as allergies.

The doctor recommended me to avoid rubbing eye, wash eye with cold water and do not sleep on the side with affected eye. You may take acetaminophen products such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen to relieve pains.

And added  – If coloration continues after 3 to 5 days call to see a doctor.
